Jewish Care held a tea at the Jewish Museum in Camden Town at which Richard Franklin, the charity’s fundraising director, spoke about the importance of legacies. The event was sponsored by Knight Frank’s Hampstead office and was attended by 30 Jewish Care supporters, including trustee Richard Mintz.
Mr Franklin said: “It will cost nearly £50m to provide the range of Jewish Care centres and services this year, yet statutory income for social care organisations is in real terms shrinking. While we have benefited greatly from the community’s generosity there are real concerns about this year’s legacy income which is forecast to fall, in line with national trends.
“Jewish Care is the point of last resort for members of our community who need our help through no fault of their own. What we are doing is to pass on our core values to the next generation enabling people to be looked after with dignity, compassion and humanity. A legacy is an excellent way for people to demonstrate their commitment – through their last and often most significant gift.”
Guests also heard from museum director Rickie Burman and Jennifer Marin, curator of the current exhibition: “Ghetto Warriors: Minority Boxers in Britain.”
Ms Burman was “delighted to host an event that brought together two important institutions in the Jewish community.”
