Is Business Going Green?

The battle against climate change and its affect on the future of both British and global economy was the topic of discussion at a Jewish Care Young Business Group reception.

The event was held on Thursday 10th April at the city offices of event sponsors Denton Wilde Sapte and was attended by 80 people, raising £2000 for the charity’s work in the community.

Camilla Cavendish, leader writer and columnist for The Times, chaired a discussion between James Cameron, vice chairman of Climate Change Capital, Jonny Goldstone, managing director of Green Tomato Cars, Charlie Kronick, chief policy advisor at Greenpeace and Shai Weiss, managing partner of Virgin Green Fund.

The audience heard how businesses worldwide are competing for the highest possible green credentials. The revolutionary shift in energy policy had fuelled extensive investment in the clean technology sector by both asset manager and private equity, which will no doubt result in a dramatic change in the way we use energy in the future.

Now chaired by Emma Cowan, the Young Business Group is a forum to hear top speakers and provide opportunities for networking, while raising funds for Jewish Care.
