Silver anniversary for Potters Bar Golf Day

Over £10,500 was raised for Jewish Care’s community centre services at the 25th Potters Bar Ladies’ Golf Day, which took place at the club in Darkes Lane, Potters Bar, on Wednesday 30th April.

The tournament was chaired for the fifth year running by Shirley Jacobs and attracted 100 participants from the women’s sections of various golf clubs.

The winners, Hartsbourne Club members Tricia Arnold, Jenny Reichman, Russele Solomons and Alison Zilberkweit, achieved 79.5 points. The runners up, Potters Bar Club members Hilary Abrahams, Ta Cox, Gill Jay and Marion Scott, also scored 79.5 points, but lost on a countback.

The day was proclaimed a “golfing, social and financial success” by Mrs Jacobs, who paid tribute to past organisers including tournament founder Sylvia Kriteman, Corinne Mallach, Bette and Alf Goldsmith, and current committee members Peta Simons and Barry Boas.

The audience also heard from Jewish Care’s fundraising director Richard Franklin, who thanked everyone for their support.

“It is always a lovely day,” said winning team member Alison Zilberkweit, adding: “We’ll be back again next year.” For details of Jewish Care golfing events, call Nicole on 020 8922 2821 or email npeppi@jcare.org
