The social work team is often the first port of call for people experiencing difficulties with their mental health. Our team works in tandem with other mental health services and agencies.

Our Mental Health Social Work Team are based in northwest London, northeast London and the Redbridge area.

Aims of the service
  • to assess an individual's needs and recommend appropriate services provided by Jewish Care
  • to link people to other Jewish Care services such as day care, independent living, residential homes or employment schemes
  • to enable people to live fuller lives, reduce isolation and encourage independence in the community
  • to work with statutory and health organisations, housing associations and other voluntary services
  • to provide short-term counselling, advocacy and advice

Who can use the Mental Health Social Work Service?
  • any adult between the ages of 18+ with mental health needs
  • people with a range of mental health or psychological issues or people who experience a level of distress that many interfere with their daily life
  • carers of people with mental health issues or addictions
Who can refer an individual to the service?

Referrals can be made by yourself, GPs, psychiatrists, social workers, carers, synagogues, families or friends - with the agreement of the client. On referral, an assessment will be made to evaluate a client's needs.
